Bumper agenda in McKinlay for NWQROC board meeting

It was a full house for our monthly Board meeting over the past two days in Julia Creek.

Mayors, CEOs and guests were part of our bumper agenda with discussions including funding for disaster management, community resilience, funding for flooding mitigation works, an update on the regional economy, funding for roads and rural airports, housing and health, and biosecurity.

There were also briefings from representatives of State and Federal Government agencies, including the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, State Development, and the National Drought and North Queensland Flood Response and Recovery Agency, as well as a representative from Telstra.

Following a presentation from the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, terms of reference for the North West Queensland Regional Resilience Strategy were endorsed.

By 2022, every region across Queensland will be part of a locally led and regionally coordinated blueprint to strengthen disaster resilience. For details visit http://www.qra.qld.gov.au/.../regional-resilience-strategies

We thank our attendees who travelled far and wide, and our hosts McKinlay Shire Council.
