NWQROC Regional Priorities 2026
The North West Queensland Regional Organisation of Councils (NWQROC) calls on the Federal and State governments to invest in regional infinitives that will strengthen the resilience and liveability of North West Queensland by:
Upgrading transport and freight corridors to ensure reliable supply chains and market access for regional industries
Improving flight accessibility and regional air services to connect communities, support tourism, and enable workforce mobility
Expanding energy infrastructure to support growth, improve affordability, and enable renewable integration across communities
Delivering housing solutions for essential workers to attract and retain the workforce needed for health, education, and industry
Securing water infrastructure and planning to safeguard communities against drought and support long-term regional development
Investing in regional waste management infrastructure and planning to deliver sustainable, affordable, and resilient waste solutions that protect communities and the environment
Enhancing digital connectivity to close the gap in telecommunications and enable innovation, education, and business growth
Investing in workforce attraction and retention initiatives to secure the essential health, education, and industry workforce needed to sustain regional growth and liveability
Investing in North West Queensland’s biosecurity system to safeguard agriculture, pastoral, and mining sectors against pests, diseases, and invasive threats, protecting productivity and community resilience
